What To Do During the Career Fair

If you put time and energy into preparing for the career fair, it will make the day of the career fair less stressful.

On the day of the career fair, consider these tips:

  • If your schedule permits, arrive early. This will give you more time to explore and interact with employers.
  • Be patient and anticipate crowds and lines.
  • Visit the tables with fewer crowds first, but allow yourself plenty of time to visit your preferred employers.
  • Take any information or handouts from employers to review while you are waiting in line or taking a break from face-to-face interactions. You can also ask for the representative’s name and business card to make following up easier.
  • Bring a pen and paper to capture notes.
  • Bring a folder or a portfolio to carry your resume and any other materials you collect or have on hand.
  • Remember that while you want to make a good impression, you are also interviewing the employer. How you feel after your interaction matters just as much as how the employer feels afterward.
