There are many ways to find current job postings. If you are beginning your career search online, we recommend starting with Handshake, LinkedIn, or USAJobs.
Hanshake
Handshake is Ohio State's comprehensive, web-based career services management platform to help students find great opportunities and employers find talented students for:
- Internships and co-ops
- Career opportunities and full-time jobs
- Part-time work
Handshake is a great place to explore learning opportunities and workshops happening across campus (and beyond)! Many events encourage or require registration through Handshake before attending. Additionally, students can use Handshake to research companies and interact with employers that catch their eye. There are also interview opportunities available exclusively through Handshake for Ohio State students.
LinkedIn is the world's largest online professional networking site for students, professionals, and companies.
- Individuals use LinkedIn for: Networking, job searching, company research, connecting with employers, alumni, and career groups.
- Companies use LinkedIn for: Posting job positions, identifying potential job candidates, hiring, networking, and connecting with employers/companies in their field.
USAJobs
USAJobs connects job seekers with federal employment opportunities across the United States and around the world. USAJobs is the federal government's official employment site and can be accessed at USAJobs.gov.

Here are a few tips as you are navigating these online platforms to search for career opportunities:
- Set up career searches: Setting up specific career searches allows you to quickly look for jobs that fit your needs. Often, you can set up searches to look for specific locations, company size, industry, etc. You can also set up as many searches as you need - all your needs do not need to be captured in just one career search.
- Use keywords when searching for employment: Knowing which keywords to use when searching for jobs can make your search much easier.
